Pasarbella @ Suntec City

The latest addition of Pasarbella is located right at Suntec City, which is easily accessible by train as compared to the other one at Bukit Timah The Grandstand. Although the capacity is not as big as the one at The Grandstand, there is still a wide diversity of food choices which will cater to both the light and heavy diners. The variety includes burgers, sandwiches, seafood, sushi,  Mediterranean kebab, coffee and fresh cold-pressed juices.

1. Wolf Burgers

Pork Gochujang ($9.90) - Thick pork patty layered with kimchi, cucumbers and spicy gochujang sauce. The buns are well buttered and toasted and the burger taste well with all the well marinated fillings. Overall not spicy, so anybody can give it a try!

2. Rollie Olie

Dos Amigos Roll ($14.90) - This sushi roll certainly taste as delish as it look. Topped with grilled eel and fresh roe and filled with cream cheese, cucumber and egg in the middle. The sushi is good on its own without any sauce. Definitely a must try dish at this humble sushi counter. I am looking forward to my next visit here to try the other sushi rolls.

3. An An Vietnamese Street Kitchen

Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken ($9.90) - Dried vermicelli with assorted vegetables and condiments mixed together for a refreshing and appetizing dish. Serving size is reasonable for its price. However, that is an after taste which inger within my mouth for quite some time.

The 3 stalls which we patronize did not disappoint us and we would certainly like to try other stalls next time.

Verdict 4/5

Hours: Daily 10am to 10pm (varies between different stalls)

Deli Hub Christmas Party set

CHRISTMAS PARTY PACKS - Served up to 10- 12pax

Oven Baked Rosemary Chicken Served with Seasonal Vegetables & Roasted Potatoes - Chicken is well cooked with zest of rosemary herbs. Their chili sauce is great to dip in if you like spicy food. Potatoes and broccoli are baked, hence not much seasoning.

You have the option to choose either Oriental Fried rice with Anchovies or Spaghetti Aglio Olio. The portion of fried rice can served up to 12 persons. The rice is not too oily, just nice enough to prevent the rice from sticking to each other. Anchovies and prawns greatly enhance the flavour.

Golden Breaded Fish Fillet with Wasabi Mayo, Wok Fried Prawn in Spicy Thai Style Sauce,
Sauteed Garden Vegetables in Butter Glaze with Baby Carrot, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Gourmet Chipolata Sausage served with Caramelised Onion & Honey Baked Chicken Ham with Pineapple Glaze Sauce. Overall, the taste does not really give me a 'wow', portion abit lesser to cater for 12 pax

Chocolate Log Cake - This is one good logcake, chocolate logcake with rice crisps in the filling, hence the crunchy experience when chewing.

Jingle Chilled Iced Jelly with Fruit Cocktail
(Apologies, I did not took a photo of that. The cocktail taste sweet as a dessert)

Total Cost: S$309.23 w/GST

Verdict: 3.5 / 5

Overall taste quite good, especially the fried rice with Anchovies

Ho Seng Kee - 何成記 云吞面 (City Square)

The famous Restoran Ho Seng Kee in Taman Century had set up another branch near to the causeway in City Square mall, level 6.

The price is alot higher than their shop at Taman Century, handmade egg noodle is still available here too

Homemade Barley drink - slightly sweet, taste great

I ordered their dry wanton noodle with black sauce and chilies. The noodles are springy and texture are just nice. Quite generous with the cha siew and wantons

After mixture look

Soup prawn dumpling noodle, egg noodle is used too in this version. Rather disappointing in the prawn dumplings. It is not as filling compare to other shops that selling wanton. Rather small prawns are used and mixed with pork.

We ordered wanton soups, the wantons are filled with pork meat only instead of a mixture of ingredients. But taste the filling taste sweet nonetheless

Verdict: 3/5

Quite expensive and the standard of the wantons & prawn dumplings does not justify the price.

The Replacement Lodge & Kitchen

About 10 minutes walk from the Citysquare mall, this small cafe is located near the famous chicken chop shop, easily identified by their white colour paint.

Iced Chocolate (RM 16 - bottom left), Iced Mocha (RM12) - Taste sweet and thick

Original Churros (RM12.90) - The churros are coated with sugar and bits of cinnamon. Slightly slimmer compare to those served in Singapore and slightly fluffy too. Well, we ordered peanut butter dips which taste rich and thick. It does not harden after turning cold. There are quite a selection of other flavoured dips like chocolate and salted egg

The Replacement Lodge & Kitchen also served breakfast set and brunch menu. Drop by if you are nearby.

Dona Manis Cake Shop- Katong

Dona Manis Cake Shop is a long-established bakery located at the basement of Katong Shopping Centre. It is just a one unit shop where the cakes are made and sold in stall. Everything from the shelves to the pastry counter and the flour churning machines are all out dated. However, recipes are still well preserved by the veteran baker. When I was there, there was only an old woman behind managing the churning machine and baking the cakes and an old man overseeing the front counter.

Chocolate eclair, chocolate cake, cheese cake, chocolate rice ball, durian puff and cream horn on display

Signature Banana Pie ($22 for entire plate, $2.20 per slice) - Real chunks of bananas are sandwiched between the buttery and crumbly crust which is topped with crushed nuts. It is not cloying at all and the portion of butter and sweetness is well balanced.

Chocolate Tart (5 for $4) - Rich and creamy chocolate filling, not too sweet.

As more French pastries are introduced to Singapore, prices of cakes and pastries are marked at  competitive prices. As for Dona Manis, prices are still kept low over the years for these quality pies and pastries. Do not give this old school bakery shop a miss!

Verdict: 4/5

LAD & DAD Review

A newly opened stall at the already popular Serangoon Garden Market and Food Centre, LAD & DAD offer westernize stew at a cheaper price which the public can get a chance to taste.

Lancashire Hotpot Set Beef ($12) - The beef stew can be order at ala carte at $8 or a set at $12 which come with garden salad, mashed potato and Yorkshire Pudding. If you prefer something more filling, you can change the pudding to rice.

The stew contain more meat than i expected. Served with bits of carrots and potatoes, both goes well with the stew. I loved how tender the beef chunks are, soft and yet well marinated. I am really surprise by the tenderness of the meat which quite hard to find in local food centre. Alternative, if you do not like beef, there are mutton stew available too!!

Yorkshire Pudding - It was served hot and crispy. The texture is more like a breaded egg roll, crispy on the outside while remaining moist and soft on the inside. Either you can tear it up and dip into your stew or you can just simply pour some of the stew on top of the pudding and eat it.

Verdict: 4 / 5

Really a must try food if you happen to be at the food centre. I totally love the stew which packed with lots of beef chunks. The stew gravy can be pour on the mashed potatoes for extra flavour too. It really satisfied my appetite and worth the deal.
